Statistical Process Control

The December 2013 issue of the “Trofima and Pota” magazine, hosted the article “Statistical Process Control” by Mr. Stephanos Kirkagaslis. SPC was developed by Motorola in 1981 and was been extensively used in the automotive industry (e.g. Toyοta) aiming to the minimization of scrap and rework. The article overviews the basic principles behind the SPC concept focusing on an example of net weight. However, SPC can be applied on a vast range of parameters within a food industry, e.g. humidity, viscosity, micro parameters etc, contributing towards food safety and production cost reduction.
